WHAT IS THE DAILY FIVE?
The Daily Five is how we run our reading program. It is a way to teach literacy
that instills behaviours of independence, creates a classroom of highly engaged readers, writers, and learners, and provides teachers with time and structure to meet

diverse student needs.
The children are given five choices to independently work on during the reading time.
The teacher works with children on their goals in groups and individually.

Between each choice, the children learn literacy skills from the CAFE part of Daily 5.
This is where they learn about Comprehension, Accuracy, Fluency and
Extending vocabulary.

Read to self
Work on writing
Read to someone
Listen to reading
Word work
Ready to Read Poem Cards
Set 1 – Traditional
Set 2 – Modern
